What is Pain-Free, Hair-Free Laser Hair Removal?

Pain-Free, Hair-Free™ is the NEW, comfortable way to eliminate unwanted hair. This revolutionary laser hair removal procedure is virtually painless. It uses non-invasive laser energy to gradually heat hair follicles until they can no longer produce new hair. The treatment is comfortable and does not generally have side effects, and will leave you with smoother, cleaner skin.

How does the Pain-Free, Hair Free laser treatment work?

Using carefully controlled pulses of laser light, the Soprano Diode Laser System’s proprietary IN-Motion™ technology selectively and gradually heats the hair in the follicles within the dermal layer of skin. The heat is limited to just the area of the follicle and eventually damages just the cells that would otherwise reproduce new hair. Surrounding tissue remains healthy. With Pain-Free, Hair-Free, the laser handpiece is in constant motion, so a much wider area can be treated more quickly and easily than with earlier lasers. In addition, a patented DualChill™ mechanism ensures the surface of your skin stays cool and comfortable throughout your treatment. The Soprano handpiece is pressed gently against the shaved treatment area and moved rhythmically back and forth and /or in circular patterns. Laser energy emitted in pulses is selectively absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft and surrounding follicle. Regrowth of affected hairs is significantly impeded or eliminated. IN-Motion™ technology uses high average power rather than high peak power to heat the follicles, ensuring high comfort levels and fast treatments.

Is it safe?

The device that delivers Pain-Free, Hair-Free, the Soprano Diode Laser System, has been cleared by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) for permanent hair reduction on any skin type, including tanned skin. It has been used to treat hundreds of thousand of patients worldwide, with impressive results.

Whom does it work best on?

It is the pigment in the hairs themselves that convert the laser energy into the heat necessary for permanent hair reduction. So it follows that the less pigment there is, the less effective the Pain-Free, Hair-Free procedure.

Does it work on all skin types?

Yes, Pain-Free, Hair-Free works on all skin types, including tanned skin. To ensure the safety of darker-skinned patients, laser energy may be reduced. While this is unlikely to change your results, it can require additional treatments to achieve those results.

What is the Pain-Free, Hair-Free pre-treatment routine?

During your FREE consultation, your practitioner will go through the following: your medical history, your expectations, concerns, what you’ll experience before, during and after photographs (to show you the before and after results).

What can I expect during treatment?

Treatment takes place in our clinic. Your practitioner will ensure your comfort and require you to wear safety eyewear to protect your eyes from the laser light. Your practitioner will clean, mark and apply gel to the area to be treated and begin using the IN-Motion™ handpiece, continually moving it back & forth or in circular motions on the treatment area/s. It may feel cool at first, but will it will warm up. A treatment could take as little as a few minutes to as long as an hour, depending on the area and condition being treated.

Will it hurt?

The most remarkable difference between the Pain-Free, Hair-Free procedure and any other hair removal procedure (including other laser procedures) is the virtual absence of pain. Soprano’s IN-Motion™ technology, along with patented DualChill mechanism, ensures your comfort during the treatment. In fact, some patients have described it as receiving a hot stone massage!

How long will it take to get results?

Generally, after each treatment, you’ll see a noticeable, permanent reduction in the number of hairs that regrow in the treatment area. The number of sessions depends on the treatment you require and the condition of your skin. For hair removal, multiple treatments are required as the process is most effective when the hair follicle is in its active growth phase. Other conditions may clear up in only one treatment, but many factors impact the efficacy of individual laser treatments including the severity of the condition being treated. Typically, it will require 4-6 treatments or more to permanently reduce the number of hairs that regrow by 70% to 80%, six months after the last treatment.

How do I prepare for treatment?

Patients scheduled for laser hair removal must avoid plucking, bleaching or waxing before treatment. Your skin should be clean shaven, be thoroughly cleansed and any make-up, creams or oils removed before the laser treatment.

What precautions should I take after treatment?

After laser treatment, use SPF 30 (or higher) on the treated area between treatments and for upto at 6 weeks afterwards. Avoid: × Washing the treated areas with hot water for 24 hours. × Hot baths or saunas for 3 days. × Excessive exercise for 3 days after the treatment.

Are there any side effects?

The risks are minimal. Side effects may include redness, swelling, and purpura (a laser bruise) in the treated area. These do not usually last more than a few days. Permanent side effects are rare. Be sure to discuss the potential side effects with your practitioner.

Should I change any habits between treatments?

We recommend you maintain a healthy lifestyle, which includes a good diet, plenty of water and an appropriate level of exercise. You may see hair regrow in the treatment area before your next treatment. We recommend that you shave 24 hours before your next treatment, but you should not pull, pluck, thread or wax the hair, as having the hair in the follicle is important to future treatment success. In order to maintain the treatment results, we highly recommend you apply a moisturising cream and sunscreen to the treatment area everyday.

Why does it take several treatments?

Scattering of the light in your skin, along with variations in pigment in the follicle, often make for variations in the ability of the laser to create the thermal injury necessary to permanently disable an individual follicle. In most cases, successive treatments will eventually treat every follicle effectively, as long as there is pigment in the hair and no other identifiable factors that could affect the success of treatments. In time between treatments is needed to refill the follicles that are not completely damaged, so they can have a pigmented hair available for the next treatment.
